Contemporary artist Bethany Farmer is interested in the persistence of unconditional love between parent and child, specifically the dichotomy between this and familial betrayal -including the guilt that closely follows our negative emotions towards loved ones, even when unobjectionable. Her practice reflects upon her own experiences, particularly her tempestuous -now estranged- parental relationship. Her work includes themes of domesticity to play with the uncanny, depicting the sensation of unease amongst domestic features. Her practice has comprised primarily of ceramic sculpture and film photography. Her early work was selected to be exhibited as part of the Demarco Archive in Summerhall, Edinburgh

Bethany Farmer graduated from her Contemporary Art Practice degree with First Class Honours in 2019.
